Netball moves to Birmingham’s NEC for 2022 Commonwealth Games

Netball’s increase in popularity has seen its venue is moved by the 2022 Commonwealth Games‘ organisers from Coventry to the NEC.
On September 3, the shift in location has been declared by Birmingham 2022 after that they made a routine review of venues almost two years from their bid.
The upswing in the profile of netball has been the driving force behind the change. The manner will have further highlighted the sport’s capability to draw fans in.
England will be taking to the courtroom at 2022 as the defending champions after their victory on the Gold Coast last year and back on home soil, expectations for achievement will be large.
„We’re thrilled by Birmingham 2022’s decision to relocate netball to your Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and completely support this decision,“ explained Liz Nicholl CBE, president of the International Netball Federation.
„While the Coventry Arena Is a Great venue, this move into the NEC will increase the capacity significantly,“
„This [increased capability ] will likely be welcomed by the netball loved ones and the substantial fan base our game now attracts, as seen in the recent Netball World Cup in July 2019 once over 110,000 tickets were offered.“
The Commonwealth Games will be held at venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands from July 27 until August 2, 2022.
